A player has found a MindsEye PS5 copy in a Walmart clearance sale, the price has seemingly been slashed off by more than 50%.
MindsEye, the latest narrative-driven, single-player action adventure by Build a Rocket Boy, has faced a rocky launch. Within days of release, the game was already being refunded on the PlayStation Store, and the devs were also cancelling sponsored streams. A new nail in the coffin has seemingly appeared, with MindsEye being spotted in a Walmart clearance sale.
MindsEye Spotted in Walmart’s Clearance Aisle
Spotted by TheGamer, a post on the r/MindsEye subreddit by Rufio1617 shows an image of a MindsEye PS5 copy with a Walmart Clearance tag. The game is priced at $20, a discount of over 50% off the original price of $59.88. The OP has confirmed that they were able to purchase that MindsEye copy from their local store at the clearance price and will be taking a swing at the game.
Some commenters have pointed out some issues with this post. One has informed the original poster that the clearance price tag for the MindsEye copy is dated June 9, 2025, one day before the game’s release date. Others have also pointed out that this isn’t a nationwide thing, and sometimes Walmart ends up putting new releases in clearance due to its “weird sales algorithm.”
Could the MindsEye launch have been so bad that it had to be put in Walmart’s clearance sale to push out the units? Or is it a cheeky Walmart employee playing a prank, seeing the backlash the game has been facing lately? There is no way to say for sure.
In other news, MindsEye has become 2025’s worst-rated game. Additionally, the developers have unveiled a roadmap for June to address bugs and performance.
