Fresh footage for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has been shown during the Sony State of Play Showcase, teasing Metal Gear Online.
Releasing August 28, Snake Eater is recreating the classic adventure from over two decades ago, with a fresh lick of paint to update it for modern gaming, including the return of a fan-favorite mode.
Ape Escape!
Footage shown in the presentation included a Snake vs Monkeys Game Mode, which will be available on PlayStation 5 and Steam, where Snake is tasked with capturing the pesky critters from Ape Escape.
For those on Xbox platforms, an equivalent mode featuring Snake against Bomberman will be available, though details on that are due to be revealed at a future date—potentially during Xbox’s own showcase at Summer Games Fest on Sunday.
That teaser was followed by a sneak peek at what looks to be Metal Gear Online, showing a character collecting a frog and seamlessly hiding in the environment as another player aimlessly walks by.
This camouflage mechanic wasn’t fully described, though it looks like somewhat of an expert mode of popular prop hunt game modes, and we can expect more details ahead of the release date in August.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The title was first announced in 2023, with the long wait rapidly approaching the end.
