Lumines Arise Launches for PS5 and PSVR 2 This Fall

The first game revealed today at the State of Play event was Lumines Arise, which will be released for PS5 with optional PSVR 2 compatibility in Fall 2025.

Lumines Arise is an upcoming puzzle game with an eclectic soundtrack and exciting visuals. At first glance, it looks like a Tetris-inspired game; however, Enhance has stated that it is much more than dropping blocks. Players will be able to try out a free single-player and multiplayer demo for Lumines Arise later this Summer.

What is Lumines Arise About?

The developers have explained that Lumines Arise is no ordinary puzzle game. It aims to hit players “right in the feels.” Players emerge from darkness at the first stage and progress over 30 stages filled with different complex emotional responses. Jungles, oceans, electronic frontiers, and outer space will inspire the visuals. The aim is to incite synesthesia.

In Lumines Arise, players rotate and place a variety of 2×2 blocks formed with one or two colours. These blocks form squares of a single colour or pattern. The Timeline completes each completed square in its path, pressuring players to build more and make even bigger squares to get massive combos and points.

The new core gameplay mechanic for Lumines Arise is Burst. This ability charges up as you play and is shown at the top of the Timeline. Once filled, players can activate a Burst by pressing the button. This will allow them to lock a formed square and build as large as possible until time runs out. You will be transported to a new environment once you clear enough squares to meet the stage quota.
