Activision Shuts Down Support for Warzone Mobile Because it Failed to Meet Expectations

Warzone Mobile failed to meet expectations, so Activision is cutting off all support for the game.

Pre-launch, Warzone Mobile pulled in 45 million sign-ups. After being pushed back, the battle royale was finally released in March 2024, and the wait proved to be worth it. Within four days, the game generated $1.4 million in revenue. And that hype hasn’t died down, as Statista reported that Warzone Mobile still generated $490,000 in February 2025.

Despite the apparent financial success, Activision ultimately pulled the plug because the game didn’t meet its expectations.

Activision admitted, “While we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”

So, Activision confirmed, “Effective immediately, players will no longer be able to purchase Call of Duty Points or Black Cell using real currency in Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile. Sunday, May 18, 2025 will be the last day the game can be downloaded from the Google Play and Apple’s App Store and social features across both mobile platforms will be retired.”

If you downloaded Warzone Mobile before Monday, May 19, you will still have access to the game, with continued cross-progression of shared inventories. The servers will still be active, with matchmaking for online play, but there won’t be any more gameplay updates or seasonal content.

In addition, any unspent CoD Points can be redeemed and used toward in-game content on the official website. However, refunds for previously purchased in-game content or unused CoD Points are unavailable.

Activision did not provide a date for when the servers will be shut down officially.
