ZeniMax Union Calls Out Microsoft For Lack Of Contract

ZeniMax Workers United-CWA have called out Microsoft once again for the continued lack of a contract between the union and the parent company.

Members of the union believe that Microsoft refuses to address various concerns including a lack of remote work options and the company’s continued outsourcing of quality assurance work.

“It’s become increasingly clear that although Microsoft tries to position itself as a good-faith employer, there’s another story being told behind the scenes at the bargaining table,” union member, and senior QA tester, Autumn Mitchell said.

“We are frustrated. Our union will continue fighting until we secure a first contract, and we’re prepared to do whatever it takes—even if that means withholding our labor.”

At the beginning of April, members of the union voted the authorization of a strike against Microsoft should an agreement not be reached and the leaders dem it necessary. Members of the union also held pickets outside ZeniMax offices in Texas and Maryland.

Talks between the union and Microsoft have been ongoing for three years with no deal reached. Despite the aforementioned concerns that are still present, the union did state that there have been agreements made regarding contractors and artificial intelligence.

“Thousands of workers have freely and fairly chosen union representation with CWA under the agreement,” CWA chief of staff Sylvia J. Ramos said. “It’s time for Microsoft’s negotiators to make bargaining contracts with these workers a priority so that together we can fully realize the promise of our partnership.”
