You Can Play Flappy Bird on Android Again, With no Cryptocurrency in Sight

Flappy Bird has piped up once again in 2025. The controversial mobile title has relaunched on Android mobile, but it doesn’t have the cryptocurrency aspect that accompanied the 2024 rerelease.

I was in college in 2013 and downloaded the hit mobile game at the time—Flappy Bird. I did not like it. I don’t know if this is because of its crude, simplistic, and frustrating design or because I wasn’t good at it. The one thing you can’t ignore about Flappy Bird is its addictive nature.

Its popularity soared astronomically in 2014. Instead of capitalizing on his newfound success, the creator Dong Nguyen had the free-to-play game removed from app stores. It returned under new ownership in 2024 to much criticism. 2025 marks a newer version with a full Android release.

When Flappy Bird was removed from circulation in 2014, it caused an incredible spike in eBay sales as people desperately sought phones with the game already installed. Despite a spin-off called Flappy Birds Family through the Amazon App Store, the game pretty much vanished from the public eye.

A 2024 reboot released under the stewardship of Gametech Holdings—Nguyen hadn’t renewed the Flappy Bird trademark. It was built with crypto elements such as blockchain and Web3.

However, April 29 saw Flappy Bird release on Android: “Exclusively on the Epic Games Store for Android.”

A press release informed players: “The Flappy Bird app available on Epic Games Store will never have any Web3 elements, and is supported solely by ads and in-app purchases.

It seems like Flappy Bird is flying in full flow once again. Will you be downloading it on Android? Drop a comment below, and check out the Insider Gaming forum for conversations about the Android release.
