Tarkov’s Icebreaker Raid Timer Increased Following Community Feedback

Battlestate Games has increased the duration of the raid timer on Icebreaker, the all-new map, to 50 minutes, following feedback from the community. The folks enjoying the extra-hard extraction challenge cried out for a longer raid timer that allows for more complete looting, a higher chance of solving the map’s mysteries, and a longer window to take down the map’s boss, Wedge.

BSG has just confirmed that the raid timer increase has been put in place due to popular demand.

Icebreaker Just Got Longer

Icebreaker has proven to be relatively divisive in Escape from Tarkov. It’s a phenomenal map that offers a unique way to fight, as well as a new boss, a story chapter, and some fresh loot items, but it’s painfully challenging and almost a no-go for casual gamers.

In recent days, Battlestate Games has tweaked the difficulty of the game’s boss and Black Division enemies to make things a little more forgiving, but defeating Wedge still requires a bit of cheese.

Now, in a post on social media, BSG’s Design Lead, Sergei Domontovich, confirmed the latest change to hit Icebreaker:

This is a marked improvement over the previous timer, which sat at a meager 30 minutes. By the time players had breached the Icebreaker ship, worked their way through the various levels, completed missions, engaged in tough fights, and dug up loot, they barely had enough time to summon the chopper to get out of the map again.

That is, of course, assuming they can get into the map in the first place. The prerequisites and method for reaching Icebreaker are pretty tough, and again, a bit of a blocker for casual fans.
