Split Fiction Movie Confirmed With Sydney Sweeney Taking A Lead Role

Split Fiction is one of 2025’s biggest and most successful releases, and a movie has been confirmed to be in the works with popular actress Sydney Sweeney heading up the bill.

Following up It Takes Two was no mean feat for Hazelight Studios. The 2021 Game of the Year winner blew us all away with an intricate blend of co-op gameplay, a compelling story, and ever-changing game mechanics. Split Fiction proves that if something isn’t broken, don’t fix it!

We reported several weeks ago that a Split Fiction Movie was already on the cards. This has quickly moved from a possibility to a full-blown movie, and Euphoria and Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney has signed on for the project.

Credit goes to Variety once again for the news. They first reported a potential movie, and now they’ve gotten the scoop on its confirmation. The outlet said: “Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a film adaptation of hit video game “Split Fiction” with Jon M. Chu directing. The script for the movie is being written by “Deadpool & Wolverine” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.”

There’s no word on a release date, and sources have told Variety that it’s unclear if Sweeney is playing Mio or Zoe.

On the face of it, Zoe’s blonde hair and appearance could be better suited for Sweeney—but it remains to be seen if she can pull off a dashing English accent. We also don’t know who will help Sweeney bring the two incredible fictional characters to life.

Sydney Sweeney has become a sensation in recent years, with her role in TV’s Euphoria catching the eye. Appearances on Saturday Night Live and regular social media interactions mean she’s one of the hottest and most-talked-about stars on the planet. This could be a great coup to help boost Split Fiction’s profile.

Can a Split Fiction movie capture the essence of the game? Is Sweeney a good fit for the project? Should she play Zoe or Mio? These are all questions you can answer through the Insider Gaming Forum. Also, be sure to subscribe to our IG newsletter below, too.
