The XBOX VP of Engineering has announced his exit, moving to Cognition after 3 months in the role.
For those unaware, when Asha Sharma was announced as the new face of XBOX, she brought in a number of members from her CoreAI team to serve as leadership at XBOX. One of these new hires was Jared Palmer, who became the VP of Engineering and also a Technical Advisor to the CEO in May 2026 and has now announced that he is leaving.
XBOX VP of Engineering Moves to Cognition
Through a new post on X (formerly Twitter), XBOX VP of Engineering, Jared Palmer, announced his exit from the company. The post states that Palmer has joined Cognition, an applied AI lab that builds end-to-end software agents; they are also the makers of Devin, “the first AI software engineer”. Palmer will be leading engineering at the new company and has thanked Asha Sharma and the rest of the team at XBOX for an “amazing year”.

When Palmer was announced as the VP of Engineering and technical advisor, he had informed the community about the tasks he would be overseeing. These included “building world-class tools, services, and experiences for developers and players across the Xbox ecosystem.” At the moment, no replacements have been announced for Jared Palmer.
