The back end of 2026 is packed with major releases to keep players occupied, and there are few titles that can rival Gears of War: E-Day for significance when it comes to XBOX.
A prequel to the beloved Gears of War franchise, E-Day is the latest title from The Coalition and brings back all the fan-favorites from the original titles for a story set around the first emergence of the Locust.

Is Gears of War: E-Day on XBOX Game Pass?
Yes, Gears of War: E-Day is confirmed to be coming to XBOX Game Pass as a day one launch for eligible service tiers, as part of Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to the service.
Aside from specific exceptions, like Call of Duty, all first-party XBOX releases are automatically included as a day one launch for subscribers to specific tiers.
The Game Pass structure means titles like E-Day launch day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers on the day of launch, with a different release structure for other tiers of the service.
Game Pass Premium subscribers can secure select XBOX-published games through the service within 12 months of the initial launch, while Game Pass Essential does not include new releases.
Which Edition of Gears of War: E-Day is on XBOX Game Pass?
Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will secure the Standard Edition of Gears of War: E-Day through the service, it has been confirmed.
E-Day has two versions available, with the basic Standard Edition providing a few pre-order bonuses, while the Premium Edition is packed with more incentives, including up to five days of early access.
However, that early access period is not available as standard for subscribers securing E-Day access through Game Pass, though you can upgrade to the Premium Edition.
A Premium Edition Upgrade is available to purchase, priced at $30, the difference between the cost of the Standard Edition and the Premium Edition.
