Wildcard encourages you to create Decks and experiment with them. Acquire and try out Summons, swap out your Wildcard specials for new abilities, and see if you should be championing other Champions!
One of the key steps to getting more powerful in Wildcard is opening Packs. You start with a healthy reserve of Currency in the Wildcard Playtest (it remains to be seen if this carries over into the full game), and you should know how you’re spending it.
How to Open Packs in Wildcard
Pick the Store option from the main menu and navigate to it to see the game’s different packs, where you can buy them and open as many as you can afford.
Let’s cut to the chase. Here’s a list of instructions you should follow to understand this process better in Wildcard:
- Go to Wildcard’s home screen.
- Click on Store.
- Check out the selection of Packs.
- Double-check your currency amounts to see how much you can realistically afford to spend.
- Choose the Pack and the type of Currency you want to spend.
- Confirm the purchase.
- Now, go to Open Packs to rip any new Packs you’ve procured.
Every Pack Type in Wildcard
There are currently three types of Packs in Wildcard: Rare Pack, Epic Pack, and Legendary Pack.
I’ve opened several of each pack, and the packs do what they say: Their type affects what you get from each. I can’t tell if you can’t get a Legendary unless you open a Legendary Pack—but it would make sense.
But it’s a case of the better the pack, the better the goodies you get. I opened one Epic Pack and got a Grumph, along with four other Common Summons. As with Wildcard, if you already own a Summon, then getting it again will level up the Summon.
