NetEase Games has an extensive portfolio across genres, with a notable presence in the MMO space. Some of its recent successful MMO-style games include Where Winds Meet and Sword of Justice, and the studio seems to want to expand its roots further in this genre.

New MMORPG by Where Winds Meet Developers
Two trademarks for “ECC: Redline” have recently emerged on EUIPO and USPTO, and the Goods & Services information reveals that this might as well be a fleshed-out MMORPG. One thing to note is that studios rarely specify a game’s genre in trademarks, which is what makes these two so interesting.
Game studios usually describe services vaguely and cover a range of things they want to protect, even when their development focus is more specific. The European filing of ECC: Redline is a good example, as it uses vocabulary that could point to anything. However, the US filing is what sets this apart, as it clearly mentions “providing massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG).”
We would still tread this cautiously as nothing official has come out, and we are making inferences based on a filing that might not even see the light of day. In an attempt to gather more information on this unannounced game, we searched through the job listings by NetEase Games, but we couldn’t find any extra noteworthy details.
The closest job listings were for a Localization Linguist and Narrative & Worldview Designer as they mention quests, events, narrative storylines, etc., which are common in MMORPGs. Now, we are left with the question of if ECC: Redline is indeed currently in development, when will we see it? Our best guess would be anytime this year or potentially early 2027, as that’s when the opposition period of the trademark ends in Europe.
