With Sony only having its State of Play live streams since the last PlayStation showcase in 2021, fans have been eagerly waiting for when the next PlayStation showcase will be.
Industry insider and journalist Jeff Grubb has previously suggested that the PlayStation showcase will be before the Summer Game Fest, which is scheduled to start on June 8. The tweet has led people to believe that the PlayStation showcase is likely to take place at the very beginning of June or at the end of May.
Summer Game Fest Schedule
- PlayStation Showcase – Date Unknown
- Summer Game Fest – June 8
- Xbox and Bethesda showcase – June 11
- Starfield Direct – June 11
- Ubisoft Forward – June 12
So far, no official announcement from Sony has been made about when the PlayStation showcase will be or what to expect. Insider Gaming has reported that PlayStation is set to show a new line of hardware in the very near future, which includes a new PlayStation 5 with a detachable disc drive, wireless earbuds, a wireless headset, and a new PlayStation 5 handheld named the Q Lite.
As for what games will be shown at the showcase, not much is known. However, this year’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will almost certainly be making a gameplay appearance. Other PlayStation 1st-party projects include the likes of Wolverine and a rumored Horizon multiplayer project, but so far the company’s announced 1st-party lineup is somewhat lackluster.
Rumors have suggested that this next event will be lining up the “second phase” of the PlayStation 5, which we expect will include a new line of hardware announcements and games.
When do you think the PlayStation showcase will take place?
