Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says Watch Dogs matters to the company’s future, though it is not currently prioritized in a creative house. Investors recently asked Guillemot about the franchise during the company’s annual meeting on October 1.
Watch Dogs Is Important to Ubisoft’s Future, CEO Says

Yves Guillemot’s comments suggest the Watch Dogs franchise is not a top priority right now.
“It’s not expected to [be] put… in a creative house for the moment, before it’s potentially remade,” Guillemot said through the translator (via Game File).
Watch Dogs is a relatively new franchise in Ubisoft’s catalog. Its first game launched in 2014, and the most recent, Watch Dogs: Legion, was released in 2020. That game received a paid expansion, Watch Dogs: Legion: Bloodline.
Earlier this year, Insider Gaming reported that cost-cutting measures could put Ubisoft’s biggest games at risk. The report noted that the developer was working on a Watch Dogs: Legion director’s cut. Insider Gaming has learned that the game is currently planned for the first half of 2027.
It’s been a difficult year for Ubisoft, as massive restructurings have forced the cancellation of certain projects. One such project was a remake of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, originally released in the early 2000s.
As for the future of Watch Dogs, a movie was in production 2 years ago, and the second game in the franchise recently saw a spike in player count on Steam. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor all things Watch Dogs and report any updates.
