One More Level has made the heart-wrenching decision to delay and push Valor Mortis further back in 2026, and there’s a clear and honest reason why: September 2026 is quite frankly chaotic.
Valor Mortis has been on my radar for a while, and I’ve had the chance to play it not once but twice. The most recent hands-on preview came at Summer Game Fest, where Valor Mortis continued to show why anyone interested in action games and the Soulslike genre needs to have this on their list.
You’ve got more time to check it out, though, as it’s been delayed.
Valor Mortis Release Date Changed to October 13

One of the most positive aspects of this delay announcement is that it isn’t to refine Valor Mortis, with concerns about the game’s quality.
It’s quite simply because September is overwhelmed with monumental AAA and indie releases across the board.
You can see the full explanation and statement from One More Level below.
September is crammed with a myriad of games, and here are a few examples:
- The Blood of Dawnwalker
- Halloween
- Marvel’s Wolverine
- Control Resonant
- Silent Hill: Townfall
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword
To name a few!
Why is everyone releasing their games in September? You probably already guessed it, so as not to clash with Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto 6.
All companies and developers are desperate to avoid clashing with GTA 6, which is why so many games are coming out in September and October, or even being pushed back to 2027.
Valor Mortis is trying to find the perfect middle ground, and hopefully, the revised October 13 date allows the devs to do this.
Check out more about Valor Mortis here with its newest (albeit now out-of-date) trailer.
