New Ubisoft layoffs have been revealed, with 55 employees impacted across The Division developers, Massive Entertainment, and Ubisoft Stockholm.
Ubisoft is continuing to restructure its organisation in 2026 with more layoffs announced at the start of the year. Last week, we saw them close the Halifax studio after its employees unionized, resulting in 71 people losing their jobs. Now, 55 more will be cut to further reduce costs.
Ubisoft Announces More Layoffs As Voluntary Leave Program Reaches Completion
A report by IGN reveals that Ubisoft has proposed an “organizational restructure” that will impact 55 employees across its Swedish Studios, Massive Entertainment, and Ubisoft Stockholm. The restructuring proposal comes after their Voluntary Leave Program, which provided them with “clearer visibility into the structure and capacity required to support the two studios’ work and sustainably over time.”
The upcoming layoffs are “not related to individual performance, recent deliveries, or the quality of the work produced by the teams”; they are instead “forward-looking and structural.”
However, the restructuring will not impact the long-term direction of the studio, as they will “continue to serve as the global home and lead for The Division franchise, move forward with an unannounced innovative tech project with a refined team setup, and play a central role in the development of Snowdrop and Ubisoft Connect.” The impacted employees are being “informed directly and supported with care and respect inline with local regulations.”
In other news, The Division: Definitive Edition could be announced soon, as a banner has surfaced online. Additionally, Division 3 is “shaping up to be a monster,” according to the devs. What are your thoughts on Ubisoft laying off 55 employees across the Division developers and the Stockholm studio?
