Canceled Scream Gameplay Allegedly Discovered in Valve Leak

One of the biggest video game data breaches happened in August 2026, with a huge Steam leak exposing a ton of older Valve files. Some of which have led to a prototype Scream game being found.

As an ‘in case you missed it’ deal: A 12TB Steam Leak exposed Valve’s older archives, and it was a completely unsecured public access point where any average Joe could have gotten to it. I have a feeling Valve won’t make this mistake again.

However, an X user has been doing some digging and has managed to find not only a Scream game leak but rough gameplay footage as well.

@fellarobux shared video footage to X, showing off an alleged ‘cancelled multiplayer SCREAM game made by Fatshark.’

Fatshark is a Swedish studio that developed Escape Dead Island, as well as the recent Warhammer Vermintide and Darktide games. But it seems they were also working on a Scream game—obviously, take this leak as just that, a possible leak, not definite.

The user hasn’t posted any download links for legality reasons, but did share some gameplay you can check out here.

It does look like a very basic horror multiplayer title following in the footsteps of Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Dead by Daylight, but datamining the files suggests this was a ‘pitch prototype to try get the license to scream,’ as ‘the final build is dated February, so only 2 months before Scream 4 released in cinemas.’

They also showed evidence backing up the Scream game claim:

‘On SteamDB you can look at the app IDs, from there upon clicking on this one it was falsely labelled as another Fatshark game that theres leftovers to in the files of this, but then on steamDB it showed me this.’

A screenshot does indeed show an ‘Upcoming Fatshark Game’ showing a last known name as ‘Scream Prototype.’

We don’t know why it was canceled or why the pitch was never approved, but if this footage and data are real, then Scream fans will be aptly screaming into their pillows, knowing the idea was at least conceived.

There’s no Scream game happening then, but if you’re into horror, make sure to check out Hellraiser: Revival.
