We can all remember the horrors of the last XBOX outage, but now a new one has popped up in September 2026. If you are having trouble signing into XBOX, we’ve got everything you need to know.
July 27 was a dark, dark day with XBOX services being down for several hours. It was described by the Xbox CTO as “an unacceptable situation.”
This followed Sony PlayStation’s incredible, hours-long offline fiasco, but the curse has struck XBOX again, although this one doesn’t seem as bad.
Why Can’t I Sign Into XBOX Right Now? September 2, 2026

According to XBOX Support, the sign-in issue was only an hour long or so, and you should be able to sign in to your XBOX account right now.
On September 2, XBOX players suddenly couldn’t sign in, and the official XBOX Support account had to alert everyone:
“We are aware that some users are encountering errors when attempting to sign in or create an account. Thank you for your patience while we investigate this issue.”
Fortunately, the page provided several updates, and the trouble was believed to have only lasted an hour or so. At 3:35 PM BST, the account updated the whole XBOX community with better news:
“Great news, everyone! Engineering has confirmed mitigation. Signing in or creating an account should be back to normal now. We appreciate the heads-up — keep them coming if anything else pops up.”
At the time of writing, the XBOX Status isn’t saying everything is fine, though. It’s still showing a major outage for both Account & Profile and Games & Gaming.
