Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition Will Be Temporarily Delisted by SEGA

SEGA has announced it is working with platforms to temporarily delist Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition, and the original game will return as the devs work to resolve issues.

Creative Assembly and SEGA released Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition just two days ago, and the Steam reviews have quickly fallen into the “Overwhelmingly Negative” category. Players have expressed concerns about numerous bugs from the original game, as well as the introduction of new issues, subpar visuals, and performance problems. In response to this feedback, the developers have finally issued a statement.

SEGA Will Bring Back the Original Game While It Works to Resolve Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition’s Issues

A new statement regarding SEGA working with platform holders to delist Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition comes from a post on X (formerly Twitter). The team has acknowledged the problem, saying the game doesn’t meet audience expectations or the company’s own standards, and the devs agree the experience isn’t “where it needs to be”.

As a result, the Complete Edition will be removed from sale, and the original game will be brought back while the team investigates the issues; however, players who have already bought the game will still be able to access it. The development partner will be working closely to identify and resolve these issues and ensure the game is delivered at the quality standards that are expected from the franchise.

Here’s SEGA’s full statement on Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition:

We’re aware that Total War: Shogun 2 – Complete Edition has fallen short of both your expectations and our own standards. We’ve seen your feedback, comments, and reviews. We agree that the current experience is not where it needs to be.

As a result we are working with platform holders to remove the game from sale and to reinstate the original game while we investigate the issues. Existing owners will still be able to access and play the game.

We are working closely with our development partner to identify the causes of these problems, deliver improvements, and ensure Shogun 2 – Complete Edition meets the quality standards players expect from Total War.

Total War Shogun 2: Complete Edition is meant to be an updated, enhanced version of the original title, including all DLC and content. It was set to introduce improved visuals, updated lighting, shadows, and textures, along with 1440p and 4K UI scaling. Players also got modernized controls, new Japanese and Chinese voice acting, over 50 new playable factions, integrated in-game mode support, a 64-bit upgrade, and more.
