The Legend Of Zelda Live-Action Movie Has Wrapped Filming

After six months of filming, The Legend of Zelda live-action adaptation has officially reached a new major milestone, with production now wrapped.

The update was shared during CinemaCon 2026, where Sony Pictures confirmed that filming has concluded on the project. Director Wes Ball’s adaptation is said to be progressing smoothly, with the team now preparing to transition into post-production.

The Legend Of Zelda Film On Track For May 7, 2027, Release Date

The upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action film will star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link, with Bo Bragason taking on the role of Zelda. The pair were first spotted in leaked set photos back in November 2025, but Nintendo and Sony have since officially revealed the actors in full costume, offering fans their clearest look yet at the film’s direction.

Beyond the casting reveal, details surrounding the project remain tightly under wraps. There’s still no confirmed plot synopsis or wider cast list, though with filming now complete, a first trailer could arrive in the coming months, potentially shedding more light on what to expect.

Originally slated for release on March 26, 2027, the film was pushed back by two months following a delay announced in June last year. With production now wrapped, the team has over a year to focus on post-production, including visual effects and any potential reshoots. For now, all eyes are on the current May 7 release date, which fans will be hoping remains unchanged.

Of course, this news comes after another Nintendo franchise performed incredibly well on the big screen, with the Super Mario Galaxy Movie earning over $190 in its first five days at the US box office. If The Legend Of Zelda performs anywhere near that level, it’s bound to be another success.
