Nightdive Studios has announced a minor delay for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster. The game was originally slated to be released on June 26, but unforeseen issues have surfaced, preventing the launch. Now, the System Shock 2 remaster will drop in the ‘first two weeks of July’, with the PC version sticking to the original date.
As a confirmed date hasn’t been given, it’s entirely possible that further delays could occur.
Shocking
In a message posted on social media, the Nightdive Studios team explained:
We have encountered issues that have prevented us from launching System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster on consoles, including Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation, on June 26 as originally intended.
We’re currently working to address these issues as quickly as possible.
Because of this, we’ve made the difficult decision to proceed with the game’s reeleased on PC platforms (Steam GOG, Epic, Humble) on June 26, with the console release now targeting the first two weeks of July.
We’ll update everyone as soon as we have a set launch date for consoles.
System Shock 2 first surfaced in 1999, emerging as a well-received survival horror title that turned heads worldwide. It was designed by Ken Levine, who would later go on to pioneer the development of the BioShock series.
System Shock 2 became a cult classic of a title, securing many awards and high scores that kept it in the minds of gamers for years after release. The 25th anniversary remaster of System Shock 2 is highly anticipated, so the recent delay comes as a slight blow to console gamers waiting to experience it.
