Battlestate Games has rolled out Escape from Tarkov’s 0.16.7.0 patch, which introduces a hugely tweaked audio experience, AI improvements, and various quality-of-life changes. With this patch, the in-game weather system moves to summer, which means the sun is brighter, bushes are fuller, and daylight is around for longer.
The 0.16.7.0 patch notes also detail optimization upgrades for Reserve, one of the game’s toughest maps.
‘Significantly Expanded’
The core deliverable at the heart of the 0.16.7.0 patch is the audio overhaul. In a blog post detailing the full patch notes for the 0.16.7.0 update, Battlestate Games explained how the audio systems are now more immersive.
How sounds reflect and behave with obstructions between the listener and the source have been adjusted, sound penetration between floors and stairways has been enhanced, and the loudness of bushes has been reduced. That last point is an important one, as players are often deafened by the obscenely loud rustling of leaves in bushes when trying to creep around.
Battlestate advised that the audio engine will be subject to further changes in the coming weeks as player feedback shapes the updates.
The quality-of-life improvements detailed in the 0.16.7.0 patch are neat, but here are a few of the best changes:
- Added an item search window with the ability to find items in the stash by category or by name
- Added the ability to automatically convert currency if not having enough when purchasing an item
- Added the ability to pin the tasks at the top of the list on the task tab
- Transition to another location will now count for all tasks with an objective to survive and extract
