EA Makes Sapporo ‘Apex Legends Esports Hub’ With Two-Year ALGS Champs Partnership

Electronic Arts and Respawn have aligned to announce some cracking news for Apex Legends fans. It has been revealed that Sapporo, Japan, will become an ‘Apex Legends esports hub’ for the next two years of the ALGS Championship. This news comes following a record-breaking Year 4 Championship that saw 34,000 fans attend the event.

In a press statement released by Electronic Arts, it was remarked that this is an ‘important and significant step forward in Sapporo city’s development through esports.’

‘Energy and Passion’

The full press statement from Electronic Arts was just released to break the news that Sapporo will be the home of the AGLS Championship for the next two years. In it, the mayor of Sapporo, Katsuhiro Akimoto, said:

Today marks an important and significant step forward in Sapporo city’s development through esports.

For the upcoming two years, we will support the event operation in every way to make the competition even more exciting than the previous one for Sapporo citizens as well as fans around the world.

Echoing that sentiment was Monica Dinsmore, the Head of Esports at Electronic Arts:

The energy and passion that our fans in Sapporo bring to the ALGS is unmatched.

As the Apex Legends ecosystem continues to grow, we remain deeply committed to delivering unforgettable live experiences that bring communities together and elevate our competitors on the world stage. We couldn’t think of a better place to host our ALGS Championship for the next two years.

This partnership will see the ALGS Championship held for the next two years at the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME in Sapporo. The press release published by Electronic Arts and Respawn outlined a commitment to supporting APAC esports and the growth of the ALGS.
