Subnautica 2 early access is one of the most anticipated arrivals of 2026. As an early access game, this means lots of post-launch content as the game finds its feet, incorporates new features and additions the players want, and more. We have news on Subnautica 2’s early access roadmap plans.
Despite a rocky development road, Subnautica 2 early access is happening—finally. With the game not even out, questions were being asked about the game’s content for day one and beyond. While the answers aren’t all clear and exact, there’s plenty to go on.
All Potential Subnautica 2 Early Access Roadmap Content

From everything we’ve been able to gather, post-launch Subnautica 2 early access roadmap plans could see the game add new biomes, new creatures, new equipment, and new story chapters.
There are two main ways we’ve gathered Subnautica 2 post-launch information: A leaked document and through the game’s official Nolt.
Leaked Development Timeline
I’ll get more into the leak later, but the leak itself shows a hefty amount of content that Unknown Worlds Entertainment wanted to have in Subnautica 2.

I should preface that the timeline for this content has probably changed significantly, thanks to the delay. Many of these features might already be in the game at launch, or Unknown has changed its mind on certain elements. This remains to be seen.

- 8-12 Creatures
- 1-3 Leviathans
- 4 Characters
- 14-20+ Tools & Equipment
- 2 Types of Vehicles

- 2 Submersibles
- 5 Biomods

- Creative Mode
- Single-Player/Co-op Mode
- Cross-progression
- Online Account Integration
Nolt Feedback Additions
Nolt is an interactive board where users can submit feedback and features they’d like to see, and they get upvoted and downvoted by the community. The most-upvoted ones have a high chance of being a future addition.
These are the most popular suggestions, at the time of writing:
- ‘A more advanced cooking system.’
- ‘Proximity chat that extends to creature entities, enemy leviathans in particular.’
- ‘Natural moonpools.’
- ‘Healing item use time.’
- ‘Water turbidity, low visibility.’
- ‘We need another pet like the trivalve or cuddlefish.’
- ‘Colorblind Severity Slider.’
- ‘Procedural skin patterns on creatures.’
- ‘Plants.’
- ‘Leviathan aquarium.’
- ‘VR support.’
- ‘Give me a heart attack!’ (Added fear factor in the game compared to Subnautica 1)
- ‘Multiplayer games.’ (Mini-games)
- ‘Post End game.’
- ‘Creatures to react to weather events.’
Obviously, you can go to the Nolt and either put your own ideas or upvote any of these!
Subnautica 2 Early Access Roadmap Leaks Explained
A leaked document appeared on Reddit in mid-2025, showing what appeared to be internal documents of a Subnautica 2 early access milestone review. This was later confirmed to be an authentic document.
Krafton itself confirmed the leaked Subnautica 2 dev document was real.
It’s two pages of initial plans for early access, showing what content would be available initially, and how a review of the development deemed the strategy to ‘Lack the level of polish and market impact desired to drive IP growth and expansion.‘
