Sony is in talks to acquire a Battlefield film from Christopher McQuarrie, with Michael B. Jordan producing and potentially starring if the stars align.
News of a bidding war for the film first surfaced in April of this year, with reports that Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal, and Netflix had all submitted bids for the rights to adapt the military shooter into a film. Now, a new report suggests Sony may be coming out ahead in those talks.
Michael B. Jordan May Star in Sony’s Battlefield Movie

A new Variety report reiterates that Christopher McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce. He’s known for writing Top Gun: Maverick and several Mission: Impossible movies, and he’s also credited as a writer on the 1995 film The Usual Suspects. Top Gun recently collaborated on a DLC for the latest Battlefield game. Learn more about that here.
Michael B. Jordan is set to produce the film and may also star, depending on whether the deal is finalized and other factors align. Additional producers include Jesse Stern of Electronic Arts, Carter Swan of Emerald Neon, Roy Lee and Miri Yoon of Vertigo, and Elizabeth Raposo, president of Outlier Society.
Call of Duty, another major military shooter, is also slated to get a film. Recent reports suggest it will be a film based on the Modern Warfare franchise.
