Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Leak Reveals Unannounced DLC Rider

Sonic Racing Crossworlds may have spoiled a new DLC rider by accident, if the leak is true.

The upcoming racing title, which sees Sonic and friends compete in high-octane races, is one that fans are excited to play. With the open beta ending last weekend and a demo on the way, it’s September 22nd, 2025, release can’t come soon enough. Unfortunately, a new leak may have ruined the surprise of a famous SEGA character being free DLC.

Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Box Art Leak Showcases Nights As New DLC Racer

According to a Reddit post on the official r/SonicTheHedgehog page, user Any_Skill_6710 found a pre-order case for Sonic Racing CrossWorlds in New Zealand. On the back of the box art were models of the free DLC characters, Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga and Persona 5’s Joker. However, one character was on there that hasn’t been announced yet: Nights from Nights Into Dreams.

Even more so, many fans believe the character model is new, given the lighting and design. Interestingly enough, a recent Sonic Racing CrossWorlds-based episode of SEGA’s TailsTube webseries showed off a Nights-inspired vehicle. Still, the leak is not official, so take it with a grain of salt.

Nights hasn’t been in the spotlight since 2010 with Journey into Nights for the Nintendo Wii. While the character makes appearances in SEGA-related games, like Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing, no new entry has been announced. Perhaps Nights’ appearance in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds could lead to a revival or remaster, but that’s for fans to dream up.

Would you like to see Nights in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds? What other SEGA characters would make for good racers? Let us know in the comments below and on the forums
