When Rematch was announced, one of the biggest features was full crossplay for all platforms. Unfortunately, it was revealed shortly before launch that the feature wouldn’t be available on day one for players.
While that led to anger and frustration for many players, developer Sloclap has provided an update on what happened and issued an apology for not addressing it sooner.
“We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one,” the developers said. “We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio’s first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time.
“We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn’t be available at launch, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players.”

Sloclap added that they feel it’s “very important” for Rematch players to be able to play with their friends no matter the platform. Because of that belief, getting crossplay working fully in Rematch is their “absolute highest priority”. Although they don’t have an exact timeline on when the feature will be added to the game, Sloclap says that they have a “basic working version from a technical standpoint”.
“[We] need to implement the relevant interfaces, before debugging and polishing it, and finally passing console certifications successfully – all this takes time but we are doing our best to move forward quickly,” they said.
Rematch is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It’s also available via Xbox Game Pass.
