Saber CEO has now commented on Rideshare Stimulator’s former writer being replaced with ChatGPT, denying the allegations.
For those unaware, the former Rideshare Stimulator’s lead writer claimed that she was sacked in 2023 and was replaced by ChatGPT, adding that at the time, all passenger voices were also done with AI. Since then, a Saber spokesperson has shared a statement, and the CEO has now added to that as well.
Saber CEO Says Rideshare Stimulator’s Use of AI Would Have Been Disclosed Eventually
In a statement to PC Gamer, the CEO first referenced the spokesperson’s statement, which said no writers were replaced with AI and acknowledged the use of generative AI in the game. It was revealed that AI is used for an experimental free-ride mode that “by necessity incorporates AI as the number of passengers in the game is infinite.” The statement also spoke about the company being a firm believer “in using AI tools to improve or enhance gameplay experiences and improve NPC behavior.”
The CEO, Matthew Karch, first stated that the Steam disclosure of AI use should arrive once their feature set is finalized, adding that they are “touting this experimental mode as a feature, not shying away from it.”
In a statement to ThisWeekInVideoGames, Karch then responded to former writer Stella Sacco’s comments, and he didn’t shy away there either. Karch started off stating, “Stella who? I had to ask Claude because I have never spoken to her or seen her. We have already said we are using AI for certain parts of the game and will update the Steam page once we have finalized the feature set.”
The CEO added that if the story of the game were to win an award, it would go to someone who can walk up on stage to receive it, elaborating that they intended to reveal it and Stella violated the confidentiality clause. The CEO also spoke about how they view the use of AI in this “lower priced title” as a plus for consumers.
Talking directly about Stella, Karch stated that she was “replaced by someone more talented and terminated for a variety of reasons a few months later.” He doubled down, stating that in retrospect, he would have been happy to replace her with AI, as they “would be dealing with someone programmed.”

“Let me clarify that the entire story script, were it to win an award, would go to someone who can walk up on stage and receive it. It was always our intention to reveal this until Stella violated her confidentiality clause and revealed this before we were ready.
“We look at our use of AI in this particular game, which will be a lower priced title, as a plus for consumers,” he said.
“As far as Stella is concerned, she was replaced by someone more talented and terminated for a variety of reasons a few months later. From what I can gather she enjoys controversy even more than I do. I would frankly in retrospect have been happy to replace her with AI. At least we would be dealing with someone programmed to be honest.”
