Ryan Reynolds ‘Reacts’ To Losing Deadpool VR Role to Neil Patrick Harris

During the recent Summer Game Fest showcase, Marvel revealed Deadpool VR, coming exclusively to Meta Quest 3 and 3S later this year. The trailer that debuted at SGF was packed full of tongue-in-cheek humour, as much as you’d expect, but it also revealed that Ryan Reynolds won’t be the voice of the loudmouthed mercenary.

Instead, the role has gone to Neil Patrick Harris. This prompted Ryan Reynolds to upload a video earlier today with his ‘overreaction’ to the casting choice.

How I Met a Real Mother F’er

Ryan Reynolds posted the following one-minute video to YouTube to share his (satirical) views on Neil Patrick Harris landing the role of Deadpool in the upcoming Marvel’s Deadpool VR:

Deadpool VR is a high-octane shooter coming to Meta Quest’s VR platform later in 2025. It was one of the gems of the Summer Game Fest, boasting classic comic-book visuals, no-holds-barred violence, and the typical sarcastic humour we’ve come to know and love from the Deadpool character.

The blurb for the game reveals all the details needed:

After being pulled through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich—like really rich. He signs a sketchy contract without reading any of the fine print and then it’s off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel Universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains.

Featuring the franchise’s unique blend of parkour and combat: If you can imagine it, you can probably do it. Sure, you can simply stab or shoot your enemies, but where’s the fun in that? Punch someone while holding a grenade? Check. Take your recently exploded-off arm and throw it at the bad guys? Gross, but also check. The limit does not exist!

  • I would say it’s there stupid mistake to make. When you associate a voice with a character, it’s hard to hear someone else speak the dialogue.

Transformers One is a case in point. Paramount could have cast Peter Cullen & Frank Walker in the lead roles, but they chose not. In the long run, it ruined the movie.
