Resident Evil Voice Actor Confirms New Game is in Development

Capcom has been on a roll with the Resident Evil franchise recently, with new releases coming on a near yearly basis, and plenty of ports to VR and mobile devices to further expand the scope of the franchise. This doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon as it appears that Capcom is working on multiple new entries in the series, with one being confirmed by a voice actor for its most iconic villain.

The Game Awards recently posted asking what the community’s most anticipated game for PlayStation is. This led to a reply by Craig Burnatowski which hinted at a brand new Resident Evil game being in development.

Craig Burnatowski is best known as the new actor for Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil franchise. He portrayed Wesker in the recently released Resident Evil 4 Remake and Separate Ways DLC. This isn’t the first time that Burnatowski has worked with Capcom on the series as he did voice acting for Resident Evil Outbreak back in 2003. Outside of the Resident Evil series, Burnatowski has always worked on games including Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion, and The Division 2.

It has been speculated for some time that Capcom is working on either a Resident Evil 5 Remake or a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, with the former being the most likely, and this reply by Burnatowski now confirms it to be true. We do know that Capcom is interested in developing more remakes following the success of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Remakes.

Capcom has yet to announce its next project in the Resident Evil series and likely won’t for some time. The studio has been busy bringing Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake to iOS, as well as the Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition that releases on February 9, 2024. It is also plausible that we could see the release of Resident Evil 9 before another remake, with the game currently being rumored for a 2025 release according to reputable Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem.

Dusk Golem recently posted that Capcom is working on five new Resident Evil games right now, with one being Resident Evil 9. The leaker also confirmed that one of these won’t be released until late 2026/early 2027. As with any leaks, take this with a grain of salt, but Dusk Golem has been accurate with past leaks so this does hold some weight in the community.
