Millions of players have likely already finished Resident Evil Requiem. You’ve endured the peril and pain of escorting Grace, and you’ve spinkicked your fair share of Zombies in the face with Leon, but story DLC is a necessity to learn more about RE9.
This is not the biggest update in the world, unfortunately, as it seems that Capcom is keeping quite hush-hush on the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC for now, but it’s the first time the team has publicly spoken about upcoming content, outside of the original social media announcement.
Resident Evil Requiem Story DLC Still In Development
On the plus side, development is still very much underway for the Resident Evil Requiem story DLC.
We learned a lot from a translated interview with Denfaminicogamer, featuring a conversation with Akishi Nakanishi (RE9 director) and Masato Kumazawa (RE9 producer).
There was the big reveal that Requiem’s mini-game arrival is imminent.
Sadly, Nakanishi couldn’t offer much about the in-development content, but did say:
“Regarding the additional story DLC, at this stage, I can only say that it is in production…I hope you look forward to it.”
If you’ve been waiting for news on the DLC, we did learn a while ago from the ever-reliable Dusk Golem that the timeline for the post-launch story DLC has been interrupted slightly:
“In an alternate timeline, RE9 would’ve come out in 2025, & the DLC for it would’ve come out in 2026 to bridge the gap between RE9 & Code Veronica Remake/Zero Remake, similar to Shadows of Rose RE8 DLC for RE8. It’s just due to RE9 getting delayed they’ll be close together.”
So, we could be looking at late 2026 for the DLC, or it could be pushed back into 2027. This wouldn’t be a shock as Capcom is working on multiple projects right now, including a strongly rumored Resident Evil: Code Veronica Remake.
