The release date for the next expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket appears to have been inadvertently leaked ahead of an official reveal.
The popular title has received regular updates with new events and expansions, with the latest on the horizon following the Eevee Grove release, and we might have been told the date already.
A reveal was expected to be on the horizon, given the Pokémon Presents stream is scheduled for next week and usually features Pokémon TCG Pocket, but it seems someone has jumped the gun.
When is Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Next Expansion?
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) detailing major changes to the trade feature in Pokémon TCG Pocket, it was revealed that an update is scheduled for 11 pm PT (July 29)/1am CT/2am ET/7am BST/4pm AEST (July 30). While a new expansion was not mentioned, previous updates have all come alongside a new set.
Brief downtime is required in the game to push through a new update, which players must then download to their devices before entering the game again, and it would be a major surprise if this was to occur without the reveal of a new expansion.
The timetable for releases in Pokémon TCG Pocket also indicates a new set will be released before the end of July, with every month in 2025, so far, seeing a new expansion.
Bigger expansions, like Space-Time Smackdown and Celestial Guardians, have been followed by two sets of Themed Booster Packs, the most recent of which were Eevee Grove and Extradimensional Crisis.
The next expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket is expected to be another large set, with pulls split into different booster packs, and this too provides evidence that July 30 is the golden date, as each of the major expansions so far in the game has released on the 30th of the month—Genetic Apex in October (worldwide), Space-Time Smackdown in January, and Celestial Guardians in April.
Of course, until we get an official announcement, take this with a pinch of salt, but it certainly seems like we’ll hear news of the next Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion at the Pokémon Presents showcase, if not before.
