PlayStation’s First Official Fight Stick is Named FlexStrike

PlayStation has finally named its first official fight stick, and it’s called FlexStrike. The new announcement also comes with a set of additional features.

PlayStation’s first official fight stick was unveiled as Project Defiant during the State of Play event in June 2025. However, at that time, we were only aware of it being a custom-designed wireless controller for fighting games. Now, we have some official features to go through for PlayStation’s FlexStrike.

PlayStation Lists Additional Features of the FlexStrike Fight Stick

FlexStrike has been designed by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PS5s and PCs, and it supports both wired and wireless connections via PlayStation Link. FlexStrike features ultra-low latency wireless technology, mechanical switch buttons and toolless swappable restrictor gates. Players will find square, circle, and octagon restrictor gates that fit into the fight stick’s built-in storage compartments, along with the PS Link USB adapters. There’s also a sling carry case, a USB-C cable and a built-in rechargeable battery to look forward to.

Moreover, players will be able to link PlayStation Audio simultaneously. This means that a single PS Link USB adapter will allow a FlexStrike wireless fight stick and either a Pulse Elite wireless headset or Pulse Explore wireless earbuds to connect simultaneously on the PS5. The FlexStrike comes with an updated PlayStation Link USB adapter that is compatible with USB-C ports. Players will also be able to connect two FlexStrike wireless fight sticks via a single PS Link USB adapter on the PS5.

Customisable and Durable Design

The design is both durable and ergonomic, featuring angled surfaces and a non-slip base for a stable foundation. It also features a high-quality custom-designed digital stick. Players can also connect their DualSense wireless controller to the PS5 when the FlexStrike is connected for improved navigation. If not, the FlexStrike also features the same inputs as the DualSense controller, including the touchpad.

PlayStation’s FlexStrike will also feature some additional customisation options, like switching directional inputs with a built-in lever mode switch, or locking in the layout to prevent accidental inputs during a match with a dedicated lock button. The FlexStrike will also be able to wake the PS5 console once synced.

Interested players can see PlayStation’s FlexStrike wireless fight stick on display only at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas. Visit the Fight Stick Museum and the Arc System Works to see the fight stick on display along with its sling carry case. The release window for this fighting game controller is scheduled for 2026.

In other news, Sony wants to bring PlayStation games beyond its own hardware, including Xbox. Additionally, PlayStation is exploring a power-saving feature for games on the PS5.
