Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is arriving on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year, with a new piece of hardware that goes hand-in-hand with the title also announced.
Revealed at Sony’s State of Play Showcase, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection features a whole host of classic games from the franchise, including the original title from 1992 and the Game Boy Advance exclusive Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition from 2003.
So far, eight games have been announced for the Legacy Kollection, with the promise of more to come, and the game will include full “interactive documentaries” with behind-the-scenes information on the creation of the games.
Project Defiant, Sony’s First Wireless Fight Stick
Immediately after the reveal of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, Sony showed a glimpse at the first wireless fight stick designed by the company, codenamed Project Defiant, that will usable with PlayStation 5 and PC.
The controls are custom-designed for fighting games, including a touch pad like those on the DualSense controllers, and supports the ability to wake up your PS5 by pressing and holding the PS button.
Ultra-low wireless connectivity is compatible with both PS5 and PC, though both also support wired connection through USB-C, and an included carry case will keep it safe on your travels.
While Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection arrives later in 2025, Project Defiant is due to follow in 2026, with the final product name and release date still to be confirmed.
