The next PlayStation State of Play event from Sony could be coming sometime in June.
According to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, Sony is planning to hold some sort of event for PlayStation next month. As far as what type of event that is, however, Grubb doesn’t believe it will be any sort of “big showcase”.
“They’re doing something in June,” he said. “Now is that going to be a big Showcase? I don’t think so. I’ve said a couple months ago that I heard that they were discussing—going back and forth about doing a Showcase or a State of Play. Sounds like they’ve probably settled on a State of Play—I’m not 100 percent about that aspect of it—it’s probably a State of Play though. But I have heard June.”
Sony’s last PlayStation State of Play took place on April 30 when it held a special Borderlands 4 showcase event. Prior to that, the company held a full State of Play event on February 12. That show saw games like Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Monster Hunter Wilds, Splitgate 2, MindsEye, Saros, and more make an appearance. It’s currently unknown what games or reveals could be on the docket whenever the next show happens.
June is already shaping up to be a loaded month with Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, and PC Gaming Show all taking place from June 6-8. In addition to that, the Nintendo Switch 2 releases on June 5. While that’s not a showcase event, it does mean that Sony is the only one of the “big three” to not have anything announced for the month.
