Insider Gaming has learned that Assassin’s Creed Shadows ‘Claws of Awaji’, the games first DLC release is currently targeting September 2025.
That’s according to sources familiar with the continued development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, who say that the pushback of Ubisoft’s major IPs hasn’t effected the development pipeline of Shadows.
That being said, it was mentioned that the DLC could be pushed back to October, which will depend on Ubisoft’s release strategy for its upcoming DLC and game releases.
Claws of Awaji is officially said to contain around 10+ hours of additional content, with a new weapon type, skills, gear and abilities also coming to the game.
In addition to the Claws of Awaji DLC, sources tell me that Shadows upcoming co-op mode, currently codenamed ‘LEAGUE’ is still in development and intended to release sometime next year.
Previously, I had presumed that the co-op mode will allow you to play as Naoe and Yasuke to fight side-by-side, however, I’m told that this isn’t entirely accurate. One source said that “while they’re obviously central characters, there’s a deeper narrative tied into the co-op that will expand the experience beyond just the two of them.”
So, presumably, you’ll be able to play as more than just Naoe and Yasuke.
As for other Assassin’s Creed projects, including a new 18-player multiplayer title codenamed Invictus and an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake codenamed Obsidian, it was said that both games are progressing well, but final release dates will depend on Ubisoft’s new strategy which is yet to be conveyed to employees.
What do you think of Assassin’s Creed Shadows so far? Will you be playing the upcoming DLC? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
