Paul Heyman Wants You To Play WWE 2K26 Instead of Fortnite and Call of Duty

We’re a little more than a month away from the launch of WWE 2K26, this year’s instalment of the popular wrestling title, and by all accounts, this iteration should be pretty well received. In recent weeks, we at Insider Gaming have served up some delectable exclusives regarding the game’s makeup of match types, amongst other things, and it’s looking good.

While on the marketing path for the game, WWE’s Paul Heyman sat down with Fightful to dish his impressions of WWE 2K26, which included a bold request for when it finally gets here.

Why Play Call of Duty When You Can Play WWE 2K26?

In a recent interview with Fightful, Heyman, who was sitting before a huge board plastered with WWE 2K26 branding, explained why this game is so important, how he plans to enjoy it, and why he thinks it should be your number one choice for entertainment this March.

He stressed that he’s ‘older than the typical gamer that’s out there today,’ so that means he enjoys the game a little differently when compared to the average user, but he loves them nonetheless. Revealing either a slick PR briefing or a genuine love for the industry, Heyman also explained how video games need to offer ’24/7, 365 engagement and interaction’ to succeed in the current market.

His ambitious request for users to play other games this March went like this:

I would like to steal people from other video game franchises. I’d like to entice people to not play Fortnite, but to play WWE 2K26. I would like to entice people not to play Call of Duty, but to play WWE 2K26.

It’s not just a matter of, ooh, what would happen if I put Lou Thesz and Bruno Sammartino and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat match together? It’s more of what can appeal to today’s gamer audience.

WWE 2K26 will drop next month with a decent array of new match types, and a new season pass system dubbed the ‘Ringside Pass’.

It was recently revealed that CM Punk will be headlining the title, getting pride of place on the game’s cover.

Do you think that Paul Heyman is being a little optimistic, trying to turn gamers away from the likes of Fortnite and onto WWE 2K26? Let us know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord server.
