Nintendo has announced that Nintendo Switch game vouchers will be discontinued on January 30, 2026.
The announcement comes via Nintendo support, who say that bought and unused vouchers will expire 12 months after the date of purchase.
“As of 11:59 PM Pacific Time January 30, 2026, it will no longer be possible to purchase Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers. Any vouchers you purchase on or before that date will work exactly as they currently do—unused vouchers expire 12 months after the date of purchase.” the announcement reads.
As expected, many fans are disappointed by Nintendo’s announcement, but some believe that it was only a matter of time before it was announced due to the vouchers not being supported for Switch 2.
But in other Switch news, the notorious GameStop stapler that broke several Nintendo Switch 2s on launch day is being auctioned off by GameStop for charity. At the time of writing, the auction is over $100,000.
