Snail Games has revealed a release date for ARK: Aquatica, a sizeable DLC for ARK: Survival Evolved, the open-world survival game released way back in 2015. In March, Snail Games was pulled to pieces when the first trailer for ARK: Aquatica was revealed to have been made entirely via generative AI.
It started the DLC off on a sour note, with the short trailer bearing all the bizarre trademarks of a cheap AI-based construction. It flummoxed fans worldwide and made them skeptical of the value of Aquatica.
Better Now
The latest trailer for ARK: Aquatica was not made with the use of AI, much to the relief of fans waiting for the expansion to release. What’s more, a recent press release promoting the ARK: Aquatica release date spoke of extremely promising things to come.
To open the release, it was confirmed that ARK: Aquatica will be released for ARK: Survival Evolved on July 15 on Steam.
Here’s the spiel from the statement:
ARK: Aquatica introduces the first submerged ARK (with above-water islands), challenging players with new survival mechanics, extreme environmental hazards, a huge explorable map area, and unique gameplay elements. The underwater biome adds 21 new tameable creatures, 74 new Engrams (including 7 tek Engrams), and underwater survival thanks to things like air pockets and propulsion vehicles.
While Snail Games received the brunt of the blowback from the gen-AI trailer, the DLC has been developed by Studio Sirens, brought on board to help recognise the tenth anniversary of ARK: Survival Evolved.
