Nintendo has established a new Singapore-based corporation and plans to further its reach in Southeast Asia.
The company, founded in Japan, has set up business in many different countries. While America and Europe are the most well-known, they do have offices in Australia, Canada, Korea, and others. However, it has been some time since Nintendo has done a new one until now, with the Singapore office.
Nintendo Planning to “Accelerate Business” in Southeast Asia with Singapore and Thailand Establishments
Announced on Nintendo’s official Japanese site (and spotted by Wario64 on Twitter), the company has established a local entity in Singapore. Run by the current CEO of Nintendo Korea, Takahiro Miura, Nintendo Singapore Pte. Ltd plans to accelerate business in Southeast Asia. The division’s capital stock comes in at around 8,000,000 SGD, which translates to over $6 million USD. In addition, it revealed plans to further its reach with a future local entity in Thailand. No other information, such as management or date, was given.
The news does come at quite a change for Nintendo, specifically its American branch. Just last week, President and COO of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, announced his retirement, leaving at the end of 2025. In his stead as President is Devon Pritchard, a current member of the NOA leadership team. Also, taking over as CEO is Satoru Shibata, who currently serves as Managing Executive Officer and Corporate Director, Member of the Board at Nintendo Co., Ltd. Given this year’s successful launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s clear the company is gearing up for a new chapter and bigger and bolder endeavors.
