EA Announces $55 Billion Private Sale

EA has announced a “definitive agreement” for a $55bn sale to a consortium consisting of PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners.

News broke last week that indicated a sale was close to the group, which includes Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and the company has now confirmed the deal.

The terms of the agreement state that the consortium will acquire 100% of EA, with stockholders receiving $210 per share in cash, which represents a 25% premium of EA’s unaffected share price of $168.32 at market close on September 25, 2025, the last fully unaffected trading day, and a premium to EA’s unaffected all-time high of $179.01 at market close on August 14, 2025.

A statement from EA says that PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners bring “deep sector experience, committed capital, and global portfolios,” that will “offer unique possibilities to blend physical and digital experiences,” while the sale “represents the largest all-cash sponsor take-private investment in history.”

Andrew Wilson, Chairman and CEO of Electronic Arts, said the deal was a “powerful recognition” of the “remarkable work” delivered by EA’s “passionate teams”, and the company will “continue to push the boundaries of entertainment, sports, and technology, unlocking new opportunities.”

The transaction is expected to be complete in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, and is “subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of required regulatory approvals and approval by EA stockholders.” Once completed, EA’s stock will no longer be listed on the public market.

EA will remain at its headquarters in Redwood City, California, following the completion of the transaction, with Andrew Wilson remaining as CEO.

  • Good bring back good games. With Silver Lake owning WWE through Endeavor as well will they move the games to EA? Hopefully SSX, Def Jam, and NBA Street come back. Weird for Fight Night given that the Saudi’s paid Dimps to make a boxing game. UFC I guess they’d just need to bring Yuke’s back or tell EA make UFC games all like Undisputed 3 and bring PrideFC mode back. They could make a Yeezy game instead of using the Def Jam name. Make SSX open world make it SSX 3 meets Jet Set Radio. Instead of Need For Speed make a Midnight Club 3 clone. They could finally make a GTA clone too. Sports games are a given but hopefully it’s not all only sports games. Maybe they can talk to Krome and make a proper Ty game 3D platformer.
