Neverness to Everness Developer Responds to AI Concerns

The developers behind Gacha Hit Neverness to Everness have responded to concerns over AI usage, admitting that some tools were created on a “small number” of minor details in the game.

Hotta Studio’s title has attracted global attention following its launch, with the title highly anticipated and garnering over 90 million pre-registrations, but players on social media began to express concern over alleged AI use.

Responding through the international account for the game, Hotta Studio admitted some AI tools were used, but explained that they are “reviewing and reworking” flagged assets.

In a post on X through the NTE_Global account, Hotta Studio stated that “Neverness to Everness is built on human creativity,” and that “the characters, stories, and world you experience are the work of artists, writers, and designers.”

However, there was an admission of the use of some AI-assisted tools, saying that they “were only used on a small number of background and environmental assets, not on the characters or stories that define this game.”

Assets for “Clear Skies in Summer” and “Pink Paws Heist” are already being reviewed and reworked, with Hotta Studio encouraging players to keep feedback coming, assuring players they are listening and “committed to delivering the quality you deserve.”

AI use in video games and in other areas across the globe has become a particular sticking point for many, with growing concerns over job losses, environmental impact, plagiarism, and other issues.

Hotta Studio has been caught up in the spin of backlash toward AI use, and however minor, there will always be loud concerns about the tools in whichever capacity they are used.
