Mortal Kombat 1 Launch Trailer Released

Mortal Kombat 1 is right around the corner and will reboot the franchise for a second time, following the original timeline reset in 2011. The game will be released on September 19, but players who purchase the Premium Edition will be able to begin fighting against Outworld on September 14, as well as receive Shang Tsung as a pre-order bonus.

Ahead of the release of Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm Studios has released the launch trailer, giving players a greater insight into the story, the modes that will be available, as well as a look at the roster. The story of Mortal Kombat 1 directly follows on from Mortal Kombat 11 despite being a reboot. At the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 11 Liu Kang became a God, and he used his powers to alter the timeline and start fresh again. This means that all of the characters are much younger and many of the conflicts, rivalries, and deaths haven’t occurred in the story yet, and could potentially be retconned in favor of a fresh story.

Some of these changes include Baraka being on the side of good again, at least for now. Millena seemingly is a sister of Kitana rather than a clone, or if she is a clone it isn’t a surprise to Kitana like it was in the original reboot. One thing to note is that Millena doesn’t have her Tarkatan mouth and teeth, but these do appear in the game so it will be interesting to see how the story plays out to allow for this. And it appears that Scorpion and Sub-Zero are working together and friends, at least for now.

There will be the usual story mode that we have come to expect from Mortal Kombat games, as well as a new mode that looks like Mario Party meets Mortal Kombat and I am very curious to see how this one works. The most exciting addition is the Kameo characters, which will act similarly to assists in games such as Marvel Vs. Capcom. These Kameo characters can be triggered to help you attack your opponent, or defend against an attack to give you the upper hand.

The Mortal Kombat 1 roster was showcased in the trailer and for a base roster it is pretty good, not quite Mortal Kombat X good, but it has plenty of interesting and classic characters to choose from including Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Smoke, Rain, Reptile, and Shao Kahn.

  • The story mode is trash still no reveal of the final kameo and main roster spot. This game is not worth it especially if the plan is to charge you later on for characters that should be in the base game and worse a potential story expansion. Jez Corden said Onaga would be in the game but he’s not so if that’s still true then he’s a DLC character potentially with no role in the single player or part of a story expansion you might have to pay extra for. This game took longer than usual and they still screw it up it makes no sense. The next villain is garbage and Hanzo I don’t know why they did him like that the changes to characters was not needed and I think they watch too many Marvel movies because this game didn’t need to copy what phase 4 and 5 are planning no one likes it.

  • They should have just made Injustice 3 at least Kevin Conroy would have been in it. If they did the same story it would have worked better instead of this. I hope someone else can make the DC games because it’s going to take too long for Injustice like 2028 and without Kevin Conroy it makes no sense being made too long a wait. Ed said he didn’t want MK to have 7 years between games well next year marks the 7th year since Injustice 2 came out, the hype is dead. This game wasn’t worth it just a bad decision letting it be made. I hope WB starts licensing out DC games instead of having these studios make the games, I would like to see a Batman Beyond game with what’s left of the cast and Arc System DC fighting game. Maybe Netherrealm can fix this with MK 2 but they need to undo a lot or maybe just remake an older title like Deception.

  • Game wasn’t good failed to live up to the expectations Ed said it would the story was garbage it’s not worth it. How long until Injustice 3? Another 4-5 years? Will they finally upgrade to Unreal 5? Will the strike effect the DLC and next game? Will they even make Injustice if the strike delays them?

    • He overhyped the game years ago he said we’d know why the game took so long when he showed it but this didn’t answer that he overhyped it and lied I think he said Sareena would be main roster but she’s not. He trolls too much everyone thought he was teasing Marvel vs DC he needs to stop doing that. After this lackluster game hopefully higher ups do that.

Don’t Let Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 Melt Your CPU

It’s a matter of days before Phantom Liberty is released worldwide – and before Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 drops and brings a resurgence of popularity for the 2020 rags-to-riches game. Techland Brings ‘Premium Currency’ to Dying Light 2

For some reason, Techland has decided to enrage fans of the almost two-year-old zombie-slaying game, Dying Light 2, by introducing an all-new ‘premium currency’ called DL Points. Masked as a good thing for gamers, this new currency will give fans the opportunity to purchase things ‘without even leaving the game’, but at present, this is […]

Negative Reviews Make NBA 2K24 Second-Worst Game on Steam

NBA 2K24 was released on September 8th and it has already become the second-worst rated game ever on Steam. It sits in second place behind Overwatch 2, boasting an overall score of 1.00 out of 10.00 – Overwatch 2 is at 0.99, for reference. It’s a mixture of review bombing and genuinely disappointed consumers, as […]
