Modern Warfare 4 Being Playtested on PS4, It’s Claimed

A prominent Call of Duty player on social media has claimed to have heard updates about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. It is known that the next Call of Duty will be the 4th in the Modern Warfare series. Currently, the most recent claims about the game suggest it will be released on a Friday in October 2026.

Now, @HeyImAlaix, a known leaker in the Call of Duty space, has proclaimed that he’s heard the game is currently being tested on the Sony PlayStation 4. In the past, he has shared news about skins coming to CoD games and details from datamined information.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Possibly Coming to PS4

While we can’t 100% verify that the game is being tested on the Sony PlayStation 4, the comments on Alaix’s post are not happy that the next game in the Modern Warfare series is still being planned for previous-generation hardware.

At the tail end of 2025, Infinity Ward recently came out to apparently debunk some rumors regarding Modern Warfare 4. Following a report that the game was essentially a copy of Modern Warfare 2, the company advised players not to believe everything they read on the internet.

Call of Duty Not Coming to Xbox Game Pass on Day One

In any case, one thing is known: moving forward, Call of Duty will not be available on day one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. This decision was part of a shift to help make Xbox and its subscription models more affordable. Learn more about that decision here.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available.
