In a new press release from the folks at Black Banner Studios, it has been revealed that Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson, who you might recognize best as the towering Ser Gregor Clegane from HBO’s Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Legacy of Valor.
The team unveiled this appointment ahead of Poznań Game Arena 2026, which is set to kick off on October 23. While the show is live, Black Banner will host a main-stage presentation, offer demo opportunities, and allow visitors to meet Björnsson.
They also stressed that this is just the tip of what they’re preparing for the game.
Legacy of Valor Silence Explained
Legacy of Valor is a primarily crowdfunded title that promises to bring users a living, breathing world. They start at the very bottom with mere scraps, move on to building and running a settlement, and before long, that becomes an expansive town. As you can imagine, things only grow from there, and eventually, you’ll be managing trade routes, engaging in bloody battles, and shaping your community.
Here’s some of the game’s spiel from Steam:
Start from the ashes of your ancestral castle and rebuild it into a mighty fortress. Expand your village into a thriving town, construct workshops and farms, and manage resources to sustain your growing realm. Every building you place, from blacksmiths to barracks, is vital to your prosperity.
The game will have a full crafting and building ecosystem, large-scale battles while at the helm of massive, diverse armies, and a sandbox mode that allows you to explore the world from a third-person perspective and live a life, while hopefully nurturing a… Legacy of valor.
In today’s blog post, published on Steam, the team explained why they’ve been a little silent recently:
We know. It’s been a while.
Following our Kickstarter campaign, Legacy of Valor entered a much larger development phase.
What started as a prototype has evolved into something significantly more ambitious.
Over the past months, we’ve expanded our team, rebuilt the original prototype technology, and developed new systems to bring our vision to life.
They’re now working on a fresh combat system, all-new animations, expanded RPG mechanics and deeper strategy systems, technology to support thousands of soldiers fighting concurrently in battle, and better multiplayer technology.
This action-strategy RPG has huge potential, but it’s still early days. That said, you can play two demos at Poznań Game Arena 2026 from October 23, and at the same time, you can rub shoulders (if you’re tall enough) with Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson. His role in the game will be better revealed when that showcase arrives next weekend.
