Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s director has stated that “no way haters will stop” NVIDIA’s DLSS 5.
NVIDIA unveiled DLSS 5 earlier this month, but the reception wasn’t great, as many players ended up comparing the new tech with a cheap AI filter. Since then, we have received a glimpse of how this tech could look in Bethesda’s Starfield, with 12 minutes of new footage arriving from GTC 2026, and KCD 2’s director has commented on it.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Director Says NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 Had ‘A Little Uncanny Beginning’
Commenting on Starfield’s NVIDIA DLSS 5 demo on X (formerly Twitter), Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 director Daniel Vávra expressed support for the new tech. Vávra stated that he can imagine developers training this technology, “or particular art style, or specific people’s faces, and it might replace expensive raytracing, etc.”
The director added that NVIDIA’s DLSS 5 had a “little uncanny beginning. No way haters will stop this.” He concluded, stating that the new technology is “way more than a soap opera effect every TV has when you turn motion smoothing on.”
For those who are not familiar, DLSS 5 utilizes the game’s color and motion vectors from each frame as input. With the assistance of an AI model, it integrates photorealistic lighting and materials that are anchored to the original 3D content, ensuring consistency from frame to frame. This technology operates in real time and can achieve up to 4K resolution, providing smooth and interactive gameplay.
In other news, in a press Q&A with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, the CEO has said that those who have criticised DLSS 5 and the tech are “completely wrong”.
