Infinity Ward is taking enforcement action against players found to be exploiting duplication glitches in the DMZ mode in Modern Warfare 4.
Launched officially last week, Modern Warfare 4 has been making waves, with Infinity Ward reaping the plaudits, and DMZ is among the areas receiving praise.
However, exploits uncovered by the community have enabled players to duplicate items, and the devs have now issued a response.
Action Being Taken For DMZ Duplication Exploits
In a post on social media, Infinity Ward said: “Item duplication glitches and the international abuse of exploits violate our Terms of Service. We’re beginning to take enforcement action against accounts found exploiting these issues.”
While the post itself didn’t mention potential punishments, a range of options is included in Call of Duty’s security and enforcement policy.
The page lists warnings, temporary and permanent bans, limited matchmaking, Ranked Play restrictions, Ricochet Anti-Cheat in-game mitigations and hardware bans, while additional penalties may also be distributed “depending on the severity and frequency of the infraction.”
These include stat and inventory corrections, which would seemingly be the most applicable action for Infinity Ward to take, removing duplicated items from a player’s inventory.
The duplication exploit comes amid fierce debate in the community on whether PvE should be offered, with some players utilizing the PvP aspects of DMZ to grief others at Exfil sites and when completing Story Missions.
Infinity Ward is yet to comment on the growing calls for the addition of PvE, but there’s plenty to come in the months ahead with seasonal transitions.
