Infinity Ward has teased that next week will bring a major information dump for DMZ, the extraction game mode coming to Modern Warfare 4.
With Modern Warfare 4 set to launch on October 23, there’s still plenty we don’t know about DMZ. Aside from its reveal back in May, Activision has kept details relatively scarce, although what we’ve seen so far suggests the mode could be a major part of the game. Thankfully, extraction shooter fans won’t have to wait much longer for more information.
“Big Week” Ahead For MW4 DMZ
Mark Grigsby, the studio head of Infinity Ward, has teased a major week ahead for DMZ in a post on X.
Responding to a fan asking when more information about the extraction mode would be revealed, Grigsby kept things short and sweet, promising that DMZ will be the focus next week.
Next week is all about DMZ. Big Week. Big Spill.
Grigsby didn’t provide any further details about what will be revealed, but considering how little is currently known about DMZ, it sounds like fans can expect a substantial information drop.
DMZ itself isn’t an entirely new concept for Call of Duty. The mode originally debuted as a beta alongside Modern Warfare 2 in November 2022, before eventually being pushed to the sidelines. Now, after several years of development, Infinity Ward is bringing the extraction experience back for Modern Warfare 4.
At the heart of DMZ is an emphasis on emergent gameplay, with players venturing into a hazardous excursion zone along the Korean border. The mode will feature a dynamic weather system and objectives that can change from raid to raid, with Activision previously claiming that no two excursions will play out the same way.
Exactly how that will translate into the full experience remains to be seen, but next week should finally give us a much better idea of what DMZ has in store. Hopefully, Infinity Ward also sheds some light on the mode’s progression system, endgame, and how it plans to keep players coming back long after launch.
