How to Recruit AI Darth Vader in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3

Fortnite is amid the Star Wars-themed Galactic Battle mini-season, and the latest update is perhaps the biggest yet, introducing an AI Darth Vader that is recruitable to your squad.

This is far from the first time Vader has graced Fortnite, nor is it the first time a recognizable franchise has had a recruitable character in the game, but now they have been given their own personality by AI.

If you want to add the AI Darth Vader to your team and want to know how to talk to him, we’ve got the steps to follow.

Recruiting AI Darth Vader sounds simple on paper, but this can only be done by one player or squad per match, so it may take several games for you to succeed in your mission.

There are three locations where Darth Vader is found, with spawns random; he’ll either be at Vader Samurai’s Solitude, south of the snowy mountain to the west of Masked Meadows, or southeast of Foxy Floodgate.

Before he can be recruited, Darth Vader must be defeated. However, you don’t need to be the one to defeat Vader, as he joins the squad of whoever interacts with the portal that appears and takes the Sith Lightsaber.

If you’re sneaky, you might be able to hide nearby and let another player do the hard work, then ambush them before they interact with the portal and receive the Lightsaber, although this method is risky.

Only when the portal has been interacted with will Vader join a squad and, as mentioned, he will only do so once per game, so you should head straight to Vader Samurai’s Solitude if you want to recruit him.

How to Talk to AI Darth Vader in Fortnite

Before you even try to attempt to recruit Darth Vader to join your side, some important settings need to be enabled. Without these, you won’t be able to talk to Vader.

Follow these steps to enable to Conversational AI option in the menu:

  1. Open the Settings menu.
  2. Navigate to the Keyboard Controls option.
  3. Find the ‘Conversational AI’ option and make sure it has an assigned control prompt.
  4. Save your changes.

When inside a game with Darth Vader AI on your team, hold the assigned button to speak to Vader. If this doesn’t work, check your settings and try again.

Understandably, there are some restrictions on what Darth Vader responds to and interacts with, and he could even leave your squad if you try to override these or trick him into saying something he shouldn’t.
