Fresh content has landed in Fortnite with the latest update, including the return of the Wookiee Bowcaster as a weapon, and there’s only one way to obtain the legendary version.
Chewbacca is back in Fortnite alongside his trusty weapon, with variants dropping as loot all over the map from chests, but the best of them all is tied behind a mini-quest.
The Wookie Bowcaster is great at dishing out a high amount of damage, though it comes at the expense of a slow rate of fire, but it’s definitely a decent tool to add to your arsenal in the push for victories.
Where to Find Chewbacca in Fortnite

From our experience, there’s only one spot where a Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster can be claimed and, unsurprisingly, Chewbacca has it.
Chewbacca was added in the May 16 update and is waiting just outside of Outlaw Oasis, on a main road to the northwest.
Don’t be alarmed by the shooting sounds as you approach; you’re not under attack from other players, but instead, there are some pesky Stormtroopers to deal with to help Chewbacca out.
Make sure you’ve got some weapons to fight with and, ideally, shields to help you survive, as hostile enemies await—and there could be other players too.
How to Get a Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster in Fortnite
To gain the Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster, defeat the Stormtroopers in the area fighting with Chewbacca. Once they are eliminated, Chewbacca will let out a celebratory roar and an emote.
Approach Chewbacca, and he will drop the Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster for you to use. As mentioned, from our experience, this is the only way to obtain the Legendary variant of the weapon.
As an added bonus, Chewbacca will now accompany you and join your squad, similarly to the AI Darth Vader added in the same update—although don’t expect to get much of a response out of Chewbacca, except for growls and roars.
If someone else beats you to the reward or saves Chewbacca first, eliminating them will drop the Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster from their inventory for you to grab. Be warned though, as Chewbacca will also fight back.
Adding the Wookiee Bowcaster to your inventory from an eliminated player won’t bring back Chewbacca though, as he is only recruitable once per game and will disappear if his teammates are eliminated.
Now you know how to get the Legendary Wookiee Bowcaster, make sure you tick off the Jar Jar Binks quests for easy XP and take a look at huge leaks on what Fortnite is offering later this year.
